Photorealism is an art form that is genuinely American. The 57 paintings exhibited here are all indisputably major works painted by the most famous American photorealists: Robert Cottingham, Richard Estes, Ron Kleeman, Don Eddy, David Parrish, Ben Schonzeit, Charles Bell and Tom Blackwell. This exhibition presents an authentic pictorial array of American icons from the last three decades of the 20th century: skyscrapers, motorcycles, cars, diners, ketchup bottles, movie stars, modern cowboys, suburbs and remote horizons. With this exhibition, the museum hopes to provide new subject matter for the dialogue between abstraction and realism in Denmark.
