Claës Norstedt’s lifework was of great importance to the Finnish glass industry for several reasons. He organized one of the largest glass collections in Finland, became director of two important glassworks, and finally, he contributed greatly to the documentation of the industry through his studies of 18th and 19th century glass manufacturing in Finland. In addition to presenting Norstedt’s story as well as a catalogue of over 500 items in his gorgeous collection, this book addresses the early days of the Finnish glass industry, the profession of glass-blowing, and the art glass as well as household products that resulted.
