An exhibition organized for an international symposium at Versailles, this catalogue is divided into two main sections. The first is devoted to the collection of nearly 19,000 architectural and decorative drawings belonging to the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, which is comprised of the collections of Tessin-Hårleman and of Cronstedt. The drawings exhibited here are plans drawn for Versailles by many different artists. The second section of the catalog is devoted to decorative objects from the Swedish and Danish collections, including furnitures, silverware, and paintings, for example. This book celebrates the collaboration between France and Sweden in the realm of the arts as it reveals the monumental importance of the Nationalmuseum’s collection for French architectural and decorative arts.
