In an attempt to show where author and poet Hans Christian Andersen found inspiration and ideas for many of his stories and fairy tales, Preben Eider began with the descriptions and letters from Andersen’s diaries and letters, and embarked on a journey across Denmark in “the writer’s footsteps”. Eider attempted in his beautiful color photographs to illlustrate the Denmark characterized by Andersen a century and a half ago. The text is Andersen’s own and is surprisingly suited to the pictures that it has still been possible to take in modern day Denmark.
