All the Small Things, Heart Museum’s first solo exhibition with American artist Cory Arcangel (b. 1978) was Arcangel's first exhibition of new works (some of which reference older seminal works) since 2011. Though at the time of the exhibition Arcangel was only 35 years old, he was already regarded as a pioneer in the use of digital technologies in his work. His early works feature video game mods in which the artist hacked into old Nintendo game cartridges, a line of inquiry which has led to a new body of work that further investigates consumer technologies. Altering and manipulating both contemporary and dated technologies Arcangel produces work that shares sentiments with Minimalism and Fluxus, and calls attention to the complicated, evolving relationships we have as consumers, and humans, to the tools, media platforms, and data that saturate our screens and thus our lives.
