In the preparations for the 100th anniversary of Jorn’s birth in 2014, the work of James Ensor was more or less a sine qua non. The strong artistic connection between the two artists achieved two objectives simulatneously: the reintroduction of one of the great European painters whose paintings had never been widely exhibited in Denmark, and the chance to experience Jorn’s pictures in the light of one of the most influential artists.
