This is an archaeological study which attempts to understand the emergence, organization, and transformation of Neolithic societies in the river valleys of western Skåne in Southernmost Sweden. It has been discovered through excavations and surveys that the area has extensive remains of Neolithic settlement complexes in the form of dwelling sites, cemeteries, megalithic tombs, deposits in wetland, and central places which range from the earliest to the latest phase of the Funnel Beaker culture and also comprises the Battle Axe culture. It also highlights recent excavations, occasioned by the expansion of the West Coast Line, which have revealed new and valuable insight into the way in which Neolithic people organized themselves in the landscape space.
