In the southern Mexican village of San miguel Amatitlan, a group aof women, with finacial help from the Vatican, decided to build their houses. These “women of clay” live alone with their children in small enclaves as many of their husbands have crossed the border into the USA in search of happiness. In 1999, photographer Marcela Taboada began to document the building project with a focus on the daily life in this Indian village. These photographs depicts these women’s determination, loyalty and pride - the heart of Mexican Truth.
