This beautifully designed and illustrated book documents the conception, design and building of the new exhibition building of the Moesgaard Museum. Designed by Hennng Larsen Architects, it grows up hill-like from the field and its 13,000 meter expanse of roof has been sown with grasses and other local plants. A walk up the roof provides a breathtaking view over the Bay of Aarhus, in a landscape of hills, valleys and deciduous forests that has attracted people for 5,000 years. This vibrant history has, in more than one respect, been incorporated into the new museum. Gorgeous color photographs, architectural plans and elevations, and generous exposition of the museum’s history, philosophy, concept, design, and construction by the world-eknowned architect Henning Larsen posthumously. Plans and elevations are included.

On Dokøen, part of the Copenhagen harbour front, the Opera rises as the Danish capital’s new landmark and attraction. Above all, however, the 41,000-sq meter building is an opera and ballet house in a class of its own, with artist and audience facilities to rival the finest in Europe. The building is a gift to the people of Denmark, donated by the A.P. Møller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller Foundation. The builders broke ground for the Opera in the summer of 2001. Three years were allotted for constructing the complex house, whose every detail had to satisfy the highest quality requirements. The demanding task was completed on time, the beautiful building was handed over to the nation on Octber 1, 2004 and inaugurated on January 15, 2005. This book details the whole process and includes beautiful photographs as well. McKinney Møller commissioned Henning Larsen to be the chief architect of the opera house, Olafur Eliasson was commissioned to design the giant chandeliers in the lobby and Per Arnoldi was commissioned to add color to the interior of the building, it is truly a stunning building in a stunning location right on the water across from the residence of the queen at Amalienborg.

This book concentrates on Le Corbusier’s lesser known works of art (painting and sculpture), which he himself considered a key to his famous works of architecture. Several internationally acknowledged critics examine different parts of Le Corbusier’s works of art, beginning with his early Purist paintings, developed in cooperation with the French painter Ozenfant, and continuing with his later, more colorful and freely modeled paintings from after the war.

As one of the most famous German architectural practices, Stuttgart-based Lederer & Ragnarsdóttir & Oei (LRO) has distinguished itself through dramatic, sweeping facades and unique forms that have had wide popular appeal but haven’t always adhered to what is fashionable. This copiously illustrated volume, the second in the Portfolio series, introduces a cross-section of work with commentary by writer and architecture critic Falk Jaeger.
