The Chinese Pavilion is a ‘strange bird’ in the cultural heritage of Sweden. It was commissioned by Queen Lovisa Ulrika in 1763-69 and designed by the architect Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz. For most people, the great fascination with the Chinese Pavilion probably lies in its colorful exoticism and alien appearance in the surrounding environments, its imaginativeness and oriental luminosity, in such strong contrast to the Swedish countryside and parkland landscape. Color photos of the Pavilion from inside and outside, after its renovation was in 1995. Descriptions and photos of what daily life was like at the Pavilion. A colorful gem of a book.
