An exciting artist, his paintings are the mirror of the times we live in, reflecting the complexity of modern society, the labyrinths of bureaucracy and the all-engulfing media. This very well known Danish artist with a studio in New York and in Denmark has a very painterly, surreal, figurative style. In addition, he is a true colorist.

This most generously illustrated book presents the first museum exhibition of the young Danish artist E.B. Itso. In recent years Itso has attracted attention on the Danish art scene and in the media world with a number of works that connect urban space with artistic space. Itso is concerned with places and individuals at the margins of the well known and the well documented. The exhibition, however, does not only present the forgotten stories and overlooked spaces of the big city. In connection with the exhibition Itso travelled to the Italian island of Lampedusa on a scholarship. His works from that Island constitute a poetic documentation of the destinies of the many nameless people who risk their lives every year on voyages from North Africa to Lampedusa. Itso’s observations are characterised by social commitment and an implicit wish to give voice to people who are normally excluded and who exist on the periphery of society. The majority of the book contains full page illustrations of the work, with writings by the artist and two articles by prominent Danish art professors.

A fine small catalogue on this very famous Danish artist Robert Jacobsen, who for many years has lived in France. This exhibition shows some of his stone sculpture, organic and somewhat representational.
