The exhibition looks at one of the most interesting and insistent phenomena in modern art: the private, intimate surroundings of the home as a symbol of our time. The invited artists work in painting, photography, video, sculpture and installation art as the pivotal point for some general studies of human life. The first major exhibition in Denmark to turn the spotlight on the home as a motif in contemporary art. Artists included Nicolai Howalt, Eija-Liisa Ahtila, Sam Taylor-Wood, Nina Saunders, Tony Ousler, Richard Billingham, Erik A. Frandsen, Frans Jacobi et al.

Friedensreich Hundertwasser Regentag Dunkelbunt (1928–2000), born Friedrich Stowasser, became one of the best-known contemporary artists in his native Austria and gained world renown by the end of the 20th century. Hundertwasser was an incredibly energetic and versatile artist, celebrated for his revolutionary architecture, colourful paintings, original graphic works, tapestries, posters, prints and stamps. He was also noted for his philosophical and theoretical writings: his politics were the politics of aesthetics, beauty and the love of nature. This book was produced in cooperation with the Hundertwasser Estate in Vienna.

Oluf Høst was a Danish painter born in 1884 in Svaneke on the island of Bornholm. One of his greatest influences was Cezanne who was ideal in his artistic matters, though Høst emphasized a great difference between their work due to a major difference in their surroundings. For this reason, Høst felt anchored in a Nordic tradition. “This exhibition presents some essential aspects of an artist whose activities spread over a wide field: So it is the nature romantic, the landscape artist, the minimalist, the colourist as well as the metaphysical Høst that come into play in this exhibition.” This book also includes discussion of the landscapes in which he paints and the major themes of the exhibition.

The monograph is concentrating around the artist’s output of sculpture created in the course of the past 25 years. The book follows Hansen’s work with form, mass and spatial displacement in modelled pieces and also serves to document her work with tableaux-like installations and non-material light-spaces. In this copiously illustrated review of her art works, we move in closely on her multi-significant and complex sculptural output. There are three distinct sections: a book presenting images, a text and an oeuvre catalogue.
