Schooled in Brazil, Mexico, Texas and New York, the artist draws from a rich and varied repertoire of influence. Her small, intricate paintings reveal a striking degree of devotion to detail. The paintings contain figures covered with miniature handwritten text, botanical or insect illustrations, often set in exotic, dreamlike landscapes. Captivating and enchanting, Harwicke’s artwork faithfully expresses her intense reverence for the world of flora and fauna.

In recent years, large exhibitions, commercial projects, the exhibition in Norway of part of the Havana Biennial and the solo shows of the artists themselves in different European countries, the United States and other latitudes have allowed a significant presence of Cuban visual arts and an active dialogue with the critics, the public and the market of art. In the case of Hearbeat, the curators, Cuban and German, respectively, have made an intelligent selection of young talents who, although they are not wholly representative of all trends of current Cuban art given their reduced number, are indeed outstanding values of some of those creative trends.

An exquisitely beautifulbook with a very impressive artist. Henry Heerup, who was an integrate part of the COBRA group has always worked in an expressionistic style, yet more defined than most other COBRA artists. Symbolic, yet massive, especially, when it comes to his granite sculpture.
