This exhibition presents treasures from the tombs of three Egyptian noblemen dating from around 2000 BC: servant figures, jewellery, sticks, weapons and - of particular significance in this exhibition - richly decorated coffins. Photographer Ole Haupt has succeeded in opening the coffins and with specially adapted mirrors he has photographed the decorations. His pictures, which are shown in this catalogue, make it possible to present almost the same view that the Egptian painter had when he executed his colorful works on the, as yet, unassembled coffins 4000 years ago. The inscriptions have been made available in their original language and in a translation at the conclusion of the book. Includes Map of Egypt, Chronological Overview, Exhibits from the three tombs, Glossary, and Abbreviations.

In the Hirschsprung Collection are two large portraits CW Eckersberg painted, just as he had been a professor at the Art Academy in 1818. We know that the people portrayed are East Indian grocery Schmidt and his wife - but who were they? What they served their money on? And why are the portraits so big compared to other portraits from the period? Focus exhibition displayed in the museum garden room tells of Mr and Mrs Schmidt and provides a look into Copenhagen and its citizenship in the year 1818.
