Arranged geographically, this book presents Japanese, German, Scandinavian, Western European, North American and Mediterranean ceramics in a broad range of significant works. The high point is the work of Gilbert Portanier, with whom Peter Siemssen has had particularly close artistic contacts and ties of friendship. Documentary photographs faithfully reproducing the works lead into interpretative texts, artist biographies and Peter Siemssen's entertaining reminiscences to provide access to art ceramics in the latter half of the 20th century. Includes the following Scandinavian ceramic artists: Hans Munck Andersen,Alev Ebüzziya Siesbye, Gutte Eriksen, Bente Hansen, Ulrica Hydman-Vallien, Birger Kaipiainen, Bo Kristiansen, Stig Lindberg, Carl-Harry Stålhane and Bjørn Wiinblad

An extensive international overview of the present diversity of a unique genre of jewelry design - the chatelaine. The exhibition includes works by over seventy artists from Europe, North and South America, Australia and Japan. The invited artists were free to decide on the type of chatelaine they wished to take and to whom it was to be dedicated. The role models could be famous authors, artists, politicians or philosophers just as well the artist’s friends or relatives not previously known to the public. To accompany the work, the artists have prepared brief texts explaining their choices. All the chatelaines were made specifically for this exhibition from 2002 to 2006. Interesting well crafted avant-garde jewelry, not always very decorative often quite industrial looking.

Peter Chang explores the relationship between art and science through his range of abstract, three- dimensional objects which can be adorned, narrate their own meaning, and embody concepts remote from their original function. As a sculptor, Chang’s pieces are primarily modern plastic jewelry, strange furniture, and creepy-crawly objects. “Object-making is a non-verbal attempt at balancing the intellect with the intuitive,” is how Chang explains his relationship to creativity.
