In the exhibition Schwander shows a series of portraits of artists he has taken from the middle of the eighties till today. From Björk and Leonard Cohen to Annie Leibovitz, Peter Greenaway and Roger Ballen. In between there are portraits of Günther Förg, Martin Kippenberger, Duane Michals, Helmut Newton, Yoko Ono, Cindy Sherman, Lawrence Weiner and many more. It may be famous artists, but the photographs are far more subtle. Schwander takes photographs, and makes their characters appear. In connection to the exhibition this book was published, richly illustrated with an essay by Lars Schwander.

An exhibition of Serrano’s photographs that captures the experience of real pain. He takes the camera to morgues, captures bodies molested and burnt, but also naked and glowing - breaking barriers as he goes along. No one can remain indifferent to the sheer visual power of these pictures that may shock and provoke - but also intrigue - transcending conventional aesthetics and challenging conventional notions of beauty.
