One look at Gunnar Norrman’s (1912-2005)works and you are captured by their beauty and tranquility. He had his first one-man show in 1942, and ever since then he has kept his original approach to drawing landscapes, and year after year he has returned to the sea, the clay deposits, where he has lived since his youth. Norrman draws the fine nuances of water and vegetation, the naked branches against March twilight, the reeds lashed by the October winds. Nearness to the sea is essential to his sensibility. This book includes the history of his life and why he started drawing, and how he technically completes his lithographs, drawings and drypoints covering his work from 1941-1987.

Jenny Nyström is one of the most well-known and beloved artists in Sweden. Her popularity is primarily based on her many illustrations, numbering more than 10,000 for children and Christmas cards, many of which are still in production and are frequently reproduced both as greeting cards or advertisements. The purpose of this exhibition is to give a new perspective to Jenny Nyström’s artistic career and her importance for the pictorial tradition in Sweden. Also, one should not forget that she was a marvellous painter as well!
